Born in conservative Seattle, educated in liberal California, Erin Goodwin-Guerrero is an artist that enjoys sociopolitical critique and a satire of the human condition. While the content of her work may be challenging or confrontational, its complex form is rich with visual rewards ranging from vibrant color to the postmodern mix of styles that embrace everything from ancient art history to the comics. She blends humor with comment on issues that matter to her such as religion vs. spirituality, creationism vs. evolution, the search for truth and struggle for justice, and the underlying role of sexuality in most of our actions. Her artistic influences and humanistic concerns spring from childhood curiosity about religion, world travels -- particularly her experiences in Mexico, and her life as an educator at San José State University and the San Francisco Art Institute. She is an award-winning artist who has many solo exhibitions to her credit and has shown her work internationally.
